David Orr is the Paul Sears Distinguished Professor of Environmental Studies and Politics at Oberlin College. He is also a James Marsh Professor at large at the University of Vermont. He holds a B.A. from Westminster College, an M.A. from Michigan State University, and a Ph.D. in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Orr is the author of five books. He is best known for his pioneering work on environmental literacy in higher education and his recent work in ecological design. He raised funds for and spearheaded the effort to design and build a $7.2 million Environmental Studies Center at Oberlin College, a building described by the "New York Times" as "the most remarkable" of a new generation of college buildings and by the U.S. Department of Energy as one of thirty "milestone buildings" of the 20th century.

David Orr, the Paul Sears Distinguished Professor of Environmental Studies and Politics at Oberlin College, gives a Clinton School lecture titled, "Down to the Wire: Climate Policy Alternatives," about the politics and policy of climate change. A scholar in the fields of the environment and politics, environmental education, green building, ecological design and climate change, Orr is the author of, "Down to the Wire: Confronting Climate Collapse" (2009). Recently, Orr was a key participant in The Climate Action Project, a $2.2 million effort to define a 100 days climate action plan for the Obama Administration.
